Centre for Advanced Language Learning of the Eötvös Lorand University
The Centre for Advanced Language Learning is an independent non-profit institution under the auspices of Eötvös Lóránd University (ELTE). The main focus of the more than forty-year-old institution is the administration of examinations, but it is involved in language teaching, as well. There are about 100,000 candidates each year and examinations are administered in 30 languages, Hungarian as a second language among them. The Budapest-based institution has a nationwide network with locations for administering examinations in the largest universities of the country and in other educational institutions as well. A central staff of about 50 control and coordinate the work of more than 1000 examiners. One of the important tasks of the institution is the standardised assessment of knowledge of the Hungarian language and culture within the framework of a modern system of examinations.
